Dr. Petrova-Mayor studied Physics at Sofia University, Bulgaria, and majored in laser physics. She graduated from the University of Hohenheim, Germany, in the spring of 2008. As a Ph.D. student she developed and built a solid-state tunable Cr4+:YAG laser operating near 1.5 microns wavelength. This laser was designed for use as a transmitter of an eye-safe aerosol backscatter lidar. Her work also explored the potential use of Cr4+:YAG to measure water-vapor in the troposphere with the differential absorption lidar (DIAL) technique. Shortly after graduating, Anna joined the Physics Department at CSU Chico. Anna's interests are development and applications of lasers. She enjoys playing piano, Pilates, and swimming.
